Neurological Physiotherapy at Radcliffe Group

Neurological Physiotherapy added to Radcliffe Group’s offering

Neurological physiotherapy is a specialised branch of physiotherapy that focuses on treating individuals with movement and function disorders caused by problems with the nervous system (brain and spinal cord).  This includes conditions such as stroke, traumatic head injury, brain tumour, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease and spinal cord injuries.

The physiotherapy treatment plan is an individual programme of rehabilitation including exercises, manual therapy and other rehabilitation techniques. The goals are specific to each individual, with a focus on improving mobility, strength, balance, co ordination and functional activities.

NATALIE VARETTO –
Lead Neurological Physiotherapist

Natalie graduated with her physiotherapy degree from Liverpool University in 2003.  She started her physiotherapy career in Liverpool working for the NHS in two large teaching hospitals.  During this time she realised her passion was neurological and older people rehabilitation.  She then went on to work for several years for the NHS in the community in Stockport.

Natalie then moved to Amsterdam for 4 years where she built her own practice treating expats.  This allowed her to further develop her musculoskeletal skills.  On returning to the UK she worked for a private hospital for a year, gaining valuable orthopedic experience.  Following this, Natalie has been able to use her unique blend of musculoskeletal and neurological skills, allowing her to treat complex conditions in a private clinic.

Physio for Adults Living With Age-Related Conditions

This area of physiotherapy focuses on supporting adults who are experiencing physical challenges associated with the natural aging process. These may include orthopaedic conditions including osteoarthritis and post orthopaedic surgery (for example joint replacement surgery),  age-related vulnerability, or a general decline in strength, balance, and endurance that can make everyday activities—such as transfers and walking—more difficult.

Pilates for Neurological Conditions – Now Available

Exercise plays a vital role in managing neurological conditions. Pilates can help reduce the effects of neuromuscular changes such as muscle shortening, weakness, and learned non-use. By incorporating Neuro Pilates, Natalie supports clients in building strength, improving mobility, and preventing disuse weakness—focusing not only on affected areas but also on maintaining the function of non-affected muscle groups.

Each session is thoughtfully adapted to suit individual needs, ensuring a safe, effective, and empowering experience for every client.
